Eric and Steve ... I wanted to share this story because I hoped it would draw out the memories that many of us fans have after interacting with athletes. Thanks for adding your thoughts to the conversation.

Olmsted was the real baller of our mission. As T.J. escorted Jimmer to the prisons in New York, Olmsted led me and other missionaries to some eye-opening outdoor courts on P-days in East St. Louis, IL. As mentioned in the article, I went to 'The Pit' in New Mexico. Well, that's nothing compared to 'The Pit' in East St. Louis. On one occasion, we were laughed at by the 50 or so bystanders as we took our turn stepping onto the court. In the winner stays on, loser steps off format, Olmsted started hitting Js and we defeated six straight opponents (all on video tape!!) before a team defeated us. Fun times. Olmsted went on to play JV ball at Air Force.

Great writing from a great friend. When Elder Southwick and I were companions in the Great Missouri St. Louis Mission, I watched in awe every P-day as he reigned threes down on everyone, from everywhere. "You got Southwicked" was tough to say back then but it happened on a regular basis. Glad to see he's passing on his legendary skills to his lone son.
